finally some good news...

The good news is I handed over a big check for a deposit on an apartment today! Hooray. I'm so happy. I think it's going to be a great place for me to live for a year, maybe more. It's a little small and far away, but the price is great. I am looking forward to being on my own and being in a neighborhood that's unlike most I've lived in before.

I was looking forward to Pilsen, but it's going to be Rogers Park. I'll be half a block away from the red line stop, the Heartland Cafe, The Red Line Tap, and merely a block away from the beach. I plan on visiting the beach as often as possible. I plan to sit in the Heartland and write on my laptop as much as possible. I plan on being my grand ol' happy self as much as possible.

cheers,
stine

Aw... at least you've found somewhere you like, even if it isn't Pilsen. Apparently you can't swim in the water, but days at the beach don't sound too shabby.

I'm also on google maps, trying to figure out where you are. Is that the place you went to look at on Friday? And is near Evanston? HOWEVER, you also seem to be awfully close (sorta -- closer than I am now) to 7452 N. Western aka Candlelite. They have some delicious pizza and the best effing garlic fries I've ever had.

Too bad it's near "Touhy" though. For reasons beyond me, I hate that name. I already told ed that I wouldn't live on that street if someone gave us a free house, just because the name bothers me so much.

oh street names that leave me less than breathless:

"lunt" too close to the worst thing you could call a woman.

"catalpa" for some reason it just sounds like the sort of street a serial killer would be living on.

"bryn mawr" sounds like the mouth is full of marbles when anyone says it.
