okay, I don't wanna jinx it, but...

I'll be moving into my new apartment (gasp!) on Monday. If all goes well, I should be an apartment dweller not too far from now. I am very excited, mostly to get my things out of storage and have access to them.

Living out of a suitcase and a couple bags has made me realize I have far far far too much stuff, so I am going to take some serious looks at my things and cut out as much as I can. There isn't much I actually need.

The thing that I am looking forward to the most is sleeping in my own bed. I miss my bed so much. The last time I slept on it was in the early predawn of July 5th. And it is nearly October. I had the most restful sleep, rising with a sigh and a stretch at no particular time and even though I had stayed up late the previous night drinking, I didn't even have a hangover.

It's funny, I've moved so often you'd think I'd already have systems in place to keep myself from accumulating. I'd have a ten box minimum or just the essentials. But as I got older, my nostalgia got stronger and it got harder to throw things away. Though, trust me, it could have been far worse. I am no pack rat. I look at my storage unit, a ten foot by five foot space (with room to spare) and I feel glad that I don't have the excess that most people do.

I say all of this and realize I am now the proud owner of a baby pink blender. (thanks, mom)

I'm all for getting rid of things, but I think I cut out too much when I moved from Canadia. This mostly pertains to the class notes and graded essays I tossed before moving, as well as some kitchen stuff. I say this only because I secretly wished I still had them.

And also, how exciting, even if it's so far north.

well darlin' i still haven't send out that book. if you'd like me to send it to your new place. drop me an email with your new addy. and i am so happy for you getting your own place again. it do make a huge difference in how one feels, living out of suitcases vs having things put in dressers and chest of drawers. congradulations. do not forget to treat marilyn to something or somewhere nice for a swet thank you to her. i am sure, i need not tell you that. sorry. oh well i am just starting to feel abit better, so i will wrap and send out that book as soon as i hear from you. be careful lifting to much when moving. ok? i wish i were there, to help ya.
love ya darlin' dad

the funny thing is, the blender is totally superfluous, but I couldn't resist. And for my birthday, the best present I got was a mini madeleine tray. And I love making muffins. And the thing I want most right now is a panini maker from Target (only 30$!) But in general, I hate everything else kitchen-y.

The bad thing about tossing things away at will is that you have to really ask yourself if you're going to miss it later. Like on those organizing shows they place things in three piles, keep, toss, and not sure. The not sure pile usually takes a lot of deciding.

hey, being that far north is going to be great! I'll actually get a seat on the red line in the morning. I'm stoked!

daddy, you are absolutely right. I should do something nice for her. I hadn't even considered it, because I in fact do lots of nice things for her all the time, but I will have to think of something extra special nice to do.

and I will send you my addy in a little while when I settle in.

and thanks.

glad you're feeling better.

I think I am going to leave the kitchen white, since painting is such an unbearable chore, and since all my stuff seems to be a crazy mix of colors, the white will just give a nice background.

and the kitty kitchen is still in full blossom.
